Each season, we help children to develop one of our 8 core skills kids need to become curious, capable learners who can contribute to their world. This Spring, we’re focusing on Creativity! Kids are born creative, and that natural creativity tends to lessen as they grow and the world demands the “right answer.” And yet, creativity will be essential for our children more than any generation before. Good news! Early, open-ended playful experiences designed to promote the building blocks of creativity can help preserve and even strengthen that natural superpower.
Our Creativity series helps kids strengthen their natural creativity. We’ll activate our imaginations and practice the building blocks of creativity as we break, bend, and blend objects found in the most creative studio of all — nature.
The 9 Creativity lessons cover three units:
1. The building blocks of creativity (breaking, bending, and blending).
2.Divergent thinking and the many possible solutions to problems.
3.Expressing ideas and feelings through art, music and movement.
There will be no Tinkergarten class on April 1st or April 22nd.
In the event of cancellations due to weather or illness, makeup classes may be added on June 3rd and 10th.
Ages 7-12, drop off class*
April Vacation Program

enrollment of 5 children.
Tinkering with Nature programs are Big Kid versions of the Tinkergarten curriculum. This Spring, we’re focusing on Creativity! The natural creativity that kids are born with tends to lessen as they grow and the world demands the “right answer.” And yet, creativity will be essential for our children more than any generation before. In each three-hour outdoor class session, our Big Kids will explore and discover the process of Creativity. We will activate our imaginations as we practice the building blocks of creativity (blending, bending, and breaking), divergent thinking, and expressing our ideas and feelings through art, music, and movement. Class sessions incorporate scavenger hunts, code breaking, and teamwork challenges while kids explore the process of creativity.
Day One: Building Blocks of Creativity: Blending, Bending, and Breaking
Day Two: Divergent Thinking & Many Possible Solutions
Day Three: Expressing Ideas & Feelings Through Art & Music
We'll have snack time in the middle of each class. Kids should bring a water bottle and a snack from home.
*Although Tinkering with Nature is a drop-off program, parents are welcome to stay and observe. A limited number of parent volunteer spots may be available for adults who agree to stay and assist with the class.
Children who have been previously enrolled in a Tinkergarten season may join Tinkering with Nature at 6 years old.
Ben's Truck Time is $5 per session for the first child, or $10 per session for a family with two or more children. The playgroup is held outside, and the kids will be playing in the dirt or snow.
